  • Valentines.. Is it about the Romance?

Went to bed last night feeling smug in the knowing that I had a card written and waiting beside the bed to hand to my loved one in the morning. Romance isn’t dead in our house but 2 children, a baby, a job each and a wedding to organise means that it’s fairly dormant! 5.30am handed my lover his card and turned over for another 40 winks chuffed in the knowing that I was first to deliver… till later when I went into the kitchen to find roses and a card on the table, have to say it made my

  • Pascal Playon our man from Clare.

First up on the biog list is Pascal. Pascal has the accent that immediately makes us think he’s an expert… il est francais! Starting off as a Somelier at Dromoland Castle Pascal’s Palate is excellent and he’s first to comment if one of our new wines tastes anything other than great. We cornered him at the sales meeting and gained some insight into his tastes, travels and daily life: His wine of the month: Catalan Eagle, Organic Garnacha Blanca & Viognier 2009 from the Terra Alta region of Spain. Pascal’s comments were (with a French accent): “Viognier done to

Just been handed the latest in a string of articles about LarryCherubino’s Wines. No hint of ‘spice’ or ‘succulent tannins’ mentioned in these awards!  This time an off the wall ode to all things Aussie. Bottom right under the wine that took the title ‘For Services to wine porn’ you’ll see our own AdHoc winning ‘Services to truth in wine labelling’ for their ‘Shiraz from the middle of everywhere’. They’ve obviously got some good ground there too though, cos it’s fairly delicious…

  • Aussies excel on the wine front after Ashes foray!

To celebrate Australia Day yesterday I rummaged through the rack and found a bottle of Wise Wine’s Sea Urchin Shiraz 2008 DELICIOUS! Pity I couldn’t say the same about my dry bit of crusty pizza (which no amount of extras from the cupboard could improve). Notes of violet, blackcurrent and hints of peppery spice came through, but most of all it was refreshing that this wine tasted pure. No hint of too much human interference just the grapes doing their bit in the bottle. Why can’t more Aussie wines be like this.
